Vockah Redu

Bouce music is a breed of Southern hip-hop on the rise in New Orleans that involves call-and-response style rap, synth samples and quick beats, and is most famous for spawning the New Orleans Bounce dance move. Sissy bounce is an offshoot of this genre, performed by drag queens or any member of the LGBT community. Vockah Redu is one of the forefathers of this subgenre. Raised in the infamous Magnolia Housing Projects in New Orleans, Vockah Redu, born Javocca Davis, began rapping in the mid-90s and formed The Cru, a group of male background dancers. Known for glitzy, over-the-top performances that involve costumes and complex choreography from The Cru, Vockah Redu's live performances are highly entertaining and not to be missed.
