Pulling equal parts influence from the past and present, Austin, Texas-based alternative rock band Edison Chair has managed to pioneer a unique style all its own that is unmistakable and fresh. Formed in 2007, the group cites old(er) bands like The Beatles and The Who as well as new(er) bands like Oasis and The Fratellis as direct influences, and after listening to material from Edison Chair, these aforementioned bands are blatantly responsible for helping shape theTexas band's songwriting style. Though Edison Chair has yet to surmount any sort of lasting commercial or critical success, with more touring--where the group can cut its teeth on the hard-knocks life of gigging day in and day out--it'll undoubtedly hone its craft, improve its instrumental approach and attract more fans.
