Meeting at a fairly isolated university in Northern Norway, where there was little to do to occupy the time between classes, the four students-turned-musicians that make up Youth Pictures of Florence Henderson began playing together in 2003 to entertain themselves. With an eye-catching band name and a few post rock singles, the group grabbed the attention of a national radio program for unsigned music, which subsequently began playing the band's long, dreamy tracks. Though the group utilizes vocals - unlike most post rock acts - it treats them as though they are just another ambient instrument to go along with the emotive guitar, bass and drum soundscapes it creates. While Youth Pictures of Florence Henderson is primarily known in its native country, it continues to slowly expand its fan base around the world.
