UK singer/songwriter Alex Highton has steadily built a following in his native Cambridge by playing coffee shops and bars since 2006. Not in any hurry to become a big name musician, Highton released his debut album in 2009, with the sole intention to create something he was proud of and that his fans could enjoy, not with the hopes of gaining widespread acclaim. However, Hollywood star Ashton Kutcher came across the album and immediately began using Highton's music on his website and boosting his popularity via Twitter. While the musician's delicate British folk ballads that touch on indie pop are still somewhat of an underground phenomenon, with further promotion, Highton will likely continue to gain fans around the world.
