Popo is an electronic and garage rock hybrid outfit based out of Philadelphia. The group started as a project between brothers Zeb and Shoaib Malik, later adding third brother, Hassan. Combining gritty and noisy lo-fi rock with a heavily 80s-influenced electronic pop sheen, Popo's music luckily works much better in reality than it might seem it would on paper. Reverb-soaked guitars mesh beautifully with the swirling synths and drum programming in Popo's songs, which coupled with the brothers' dreamy vocals all adds up to an ethereal and nostalgia-filled sound.
