Birthday Suits

The duo of drummer Yuichiro Matthew Kazama and guitarist Hideo Takahashi make up the entirety of the Minneapolis/St. Paul garage rock band, Birthday Suits. The band imbues its music with a whirlwind manic energy that allows it to bounce around from one side of punk rock to the other, all the while effortlessly deconstructing the whole enterprise. Even so, the band seems less interested in intellectually exploring a genre usually not known for brainy introspection as it is in rocking the faces off of anyone lucky enough to catch a live performance.
