Steve Poltz is a Canadian-born folk singer/songwriter based in San Diego whose success as a founding member of the indie rock band The Rugburns was somewhat overshadowed by his work with famed folk pop singer Jewel during the late 1990s. Poltz would release several critically-acclaimed albums after his debut album One Left Shoe was released in 1998, which, in conjunction with his work with Jewel and The Rugburns, earned him the title of "San Diego's Most Influential Artist of the Decade" at the 2000 San Diego Music Awards.
