Slade is a rock band that emerged out of Wolverhampton, UK during the glam rock era of the early 1970s. The outfit released its debut album Beginnings, as Ambrose Slade in 1969, before adopting its chosen name and unleashing a string of commercially successful singles throughout the early 1970s. With records such as 1972's Slayed?, and 1974's Old New Borrowed and Blue, the band collected a widespread national following and finally found its breakthrough in the US during the early 1980s. After a split in 1992, Dave Hill and Don Powell reunited and formed Slade II along with Craig Fenney, Steve Makin and Steve Whalley. They released a full-length album titled Keep on Rockin', in 1994. The band has performed as Slade since 2002, although they have not released any new music since 1994. In February, 2020, it was announced that Don Powell would be leaving the band to form a new one of his own.
