Combining the disparate worlds of indie power pop and shoegaze, Ringo Deathstarr is another example of the recent trend of melding summery songs with walls of distorted noise. Formed in Austin, Texas around 2005, the three-piece is undoubtedly inspired by the like-minded catalog of the popular 1980s underground group, The Jesus & Mary Chain. That band's proclivity for using hazy guitar textures, feedback and effects pedals to disguise perfect little pop songs buried underneath is carried on in Ringo Deathstarr's music. For those who like their pop a little skewered and unorthodox, the group's songs will most likely be warmly welcomed.
