Heart was one of the first mainstream rock bands where women were in complete creative control. That being said, it's hard to downplay the legacy that the band has left in its wake. The group rose to success in the mid '70s with a slew of radio friendly hits that boosted the group to international stardom and even though the Seattle, Washington-based group has seen its fair share of music business woes, Heart is still performing. Little known fact: several bands from the Seattle grunge scene (including Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam) recorded at Heart's Bad Animals recording studio in Seattle, further proving the influence Heart continues to have on the music industry.
