Morris Day and the Time (also known as The Time, and now known as The Original 7even) is a funk and dance-pop group from Minneapolis, Minnesota that is perhaps best known for its association with pop icon Prince. Brought together in the early 1980s by Prince to perform under the Warner Bros. label, Morris Day and the Time developed its style by synthesizing those of several popular funk acts of the time, with the band's primary influence being Prince himself. The band experienced several line-up changes and hiatuses throughout the 1980s and 1990s, however, today the band is back, stronger than ever and can frequently be found performing under the name The Original 7even (alluding to the band's original seven members).
