Hailing from Ontario, Canada, Bruce Cockburn is a guitarist and singer/songwriter who has been releasing his characteristic brand of folk rock music since 1970, when he dropped his eponymously-titled debut album. Though his music began as straightforward folk that highlighted his intricate guitar skills, his sound developed to included elements of jazz and rock, as well as strong political themes. Cockburn's most successful work came in the 1980s with the emergence of his more urban, global and then eventually political subject matter, particularly on albums such as Humans, Inner city Front and Stealing Fire. He released his 24th album, titled Small Source of Comfort, in 2011 and has since continued to experiment with his music and perform for live audiences around the world.
