ABC is a New Wave band from Sheffield, England that saw its career skyrocket during the 1980s with the release of several singles that made the Top 40 charts in both the US and the UK. Although the band has it roots in a little known band called Visa Versa, once the members of the earlier band took on keyboardist Martin Fry, Fry helped convince the band to change its name to ABC and would take over lead vocals shortly thereafter. As soon as the band transitioned to its new line up in 1981 with the release of its first single "Tears Are Not Enough," ABC almost immediately began experiencing success on the UK charts and would continue with a string of successful singles throughout the 1980s. Although the band's popularity tapered at the end of the decade and into the early 1990s, ABC is still recording and touring with its founding member Martin Fry to a great amount of audience and critical acclaim.
