French pianist Alexandre Tharaud owns a diverse catalog of recordings though is best-known for his classical Romantic work. Born and raised in Paris to dance teacher at the Opera de Paris and an operetta director and singer, he cut his teeth on the city's rich, renowned music scene. While appearing in theater performances throughout Northern France, he took up piano at age five and enrolled in the Conservatory of the 14th Arrondissement. He has since evolved into a technically crisp pianist with critical accolades and an international reputation for offering colorful and precise interpretations from the repertoires of Bach, Chopin and Shubert and more.
