Germany's Kettcar is an indie pop band that formed in 2001 out of the remnants of declining punk rock and ska bands. Marcus Wiebusch, former lead singer and guitarist of punk rock act ...But Alive and the ska band Rantanplan, joined fellow Rantanplan member and bassist Reimer Bustorff on a more emotional and laid-back turn towards pop music. The two musicians joined guitarist Erik Langer, percussionist Frank Tirado-Rosales and Marcus' brother, Lars Wiebusch, on keyboards to form the guitar-based indie pop band, Kettcar. Kettcar's debut album was released in 2002. Grant Hotel van Cleef has since released records by prominent acts such as Death Cab for Cutie, occupying much of the members time and engery. Kettcar has still managed to release its 2005 Von Spatzen und Tauben, Dächern un Händen album, as well at its 2008 effort, Sylt.
