In James K. Polk’s final address to Congress, he confirmed the discovery of gold in California! Campers will engage in 5 days of hands-on activities and exciting presentations that will take them from the Polk White House, to the volunteer army corps of the Mexican-American War, to the Oregon Trail, and all the way to the goldfields of California! Fun activities will include a gold panning and gem finding experience and more.
This camp is for rising 3rd-6th grade students. Polk Academy runs from 9am-2pm daily with drop off and pick up occuring at the Sister's House Visitor's Center. Campers should pack a water bottle and lunch daily, in addition to applying sunscreen, bug spray or any other needed products before camp. Snacks will be provided daily and campers should expect to be outside daily.
