One of the most successful instrumental artists of modern music, Boney James is a saxophonist and songwriter from Lowell, MA who began playing his instrument of choice at age ten. Inspired the Motown hits he grew up listening to, he immediately began working R&B and soul into his jazz fusion music, which was further influenced by his seven year stint of touring and playing sessions with acts like Bobby Caldwell, Tina Marie and the Isley Brothers. James eventually caught the attention of producer Paul Brown, who helped him release his debut album as band leader, Trust. He subsequently signed with Warner Bros. Records and released as string of well-received albums including Seduction, Body Language and Sweet Thing. James earned his first Grammy Award for his 2001 record Ride, and has since continued to release solo and collaboration records to critical acclaim.
