Straight No Chaser (SNC) is an American vocal group from Bloomington, Indiana. The group's name is taken from a jazz piece by Thelonious Monk. It began as a cappella group at Indiana Univsersity in 1996. The group performed both modern and traditional songs on campus and beyond, and finally signed a record deal with Atlantic Records in 2008. The SNC is still also in rotation at the university, as a separate entity. The group has even performed at Carnegie Hall. Both groups perform popular pop songs as well as musical ballads.
