California-born artist Michael Franks is a smooth jazz singer/songwriter who has recorded with a variety of well-known artists, such as Patti Austin, Brenda Russell, Art Garfunkel, and David Sanborn. He released his eponymous debut solo album in 1973 and has steady released records into the 2010s. His songs have been recorded by the likes of The Manhattan Transfer, Patti Labelle, Carmen McRae, Diana Krall, Shirley Bassey and The Carpenters. Franks released his 18th studio album Time Together, in 2011.
