The experimental folk music band Heilung comprises members from Denmark, Norway, and Germany. Formed in 2014 by singer Kai Uwe Faust, Danish producer Christopher Juul and the Norwegian singer Maria Franz, it released its debut album Ofnir in 2015. The band spent a major part of 2017 performing at big-name events like Castlefest and the Midgardsblot Metalfest, the latter of which was listed as one of the best performances of 2017 by Metal Hammer. That same year, Heilung signed a recording deal with the label Season of Mist. The year 2018 saw the re-release of the band's two previous albums Ofnir and Lifa. Heilung, which means 'healing' in German, releases music based on runic inscriptions from the Bronze, Iron and Viking Ages. The band's other popular songs include "Norupo," "In Maijan," "Krigsgaldr" and "Suurin."
