Former Simple Minds (80s fans will instantly recognize their 1985 single "Don't You (Forget About Me)") member Derek Forbes left the band over stylistic differences, and embarked on his own path of alternative, rock, and new wave which houses various sounds. This hybrid gives rise to a unique sound--almost like alternative and new wave music haunted by a Gothic feel, like "StPauli Girl." In 2009, readers of Dear Scotland (a Scottish music publication) voted Forbes as "Scotland's Greatest Ever Bassist."
