Established in the year 2006, the Edmonton Oil Kings is a Canadian major junior hockey team that plays in Eastern Conference of the Western Hockey League. The team gets its name from its majority stakeholder Daryl Katz, who owns the Oilers Entertainment Group. A fairly successful team in their league, their major championships include the Ed Chynoweth Cup which they have won twice in 2012 and 2014 in addition to their Memorial Cup victory of 2014. Coached by Steve Hamilton, their gameplay revolves around the presence of some of their key players such as Jordan Dawson, Colton Kehler, Davis Koch and Tyler Robinson. Their home games are held at the swanky Rogers Place Indoor Arena, that was inaugurated on the 8th of September 2016.
