Amaral is a pop rock duo from Zaragoza, Spain, that consists of guitarist Juan Aguirre and vocalist Eva Amaral. The two met while both performing in different bands, eventually coming together in 1997 to create their Spanish folk-influenced version of pop, which also touches on rock and dance. The band broke through in 2002 with its third album, Estrella de Mar, which landed at number one on the Spanish charts and spawned five hit singles. Amaral has plenty of admirers outside its home country as well, and has collaborated with R.E.M.'s Peter Buck and electronica superstar Moby.
