A Feast of Festivities One of the highlights of Heidelberg's festival season, the Heidelberger Herbst, sees the old town taken over by a feast of festivities including over 40 bands, a medieval pageant at the Neckarwiese, a huge flea market, dance and theater productions, children's shows and a historic market on Universitätsplatz. The market is opened with a traditional medieval ceremony on Saturday and culminates with a huge firework display on the Sunday evening. Visitors can watch the shows or indulge in the culinary delights offered at many of the numerous pubs in the area.
