Joss Stone is a soul and R&B singer/songwriter from England who got her start in 2001 after winning BBC's televised talent competition, Star for a Night. Her performances on the show and deep, powerful vocals earned her a record deal that brought her to the US to lay down her debut album, The Soul Sessions, in 2003. The record earned her immediate acclaim while she captured a broad audience through her various collaborations. She has worked with soul veterans such as Betty Wright and John Legend as well as contemporary acts such as the Roots, while also stepping outside of her genre to rework material by the White Stripes. Stone's combination of R&B and pop/rock sensibilities have brought her a fair amount of commercial success through six studio albums and a decade-long career.
