Commencing at the corner of Linwood and Broadway, the parade proceeds down Broadway Boulevard, ending at West 143rd Street. This is the largest one day event that takes place in Kansas City, on the patron Saint's feast day. It first began in 1973 and has become the biggest exhibit of pride of the Irish Culture. There are a few simple rules that you need to follow if you want to be a part of the parade. The float needs to include Irish music, the flag of Ireland, 'Happy Saint Patrick Day' placards and pots of gold. The aim of the parade is to celebrate the heritage and tradition of the Irish in America in the best possible way. Do your homework and come prepared.
