David Thomas Broughton is a London-based folk musician who frequently incorporates improvisation and experimentation into his live show and studio work. Known to perform in large churches or abandoned buildings in the interest of utilizing their natural acoustic properties, Broughton's shows have gained a reputation for being bizarrely idiosyncratic as often as they are beautiful. He usually performs solo with just an acoustic guitar and his dramatic, oddly pitched quaver of a voice, but will often use loop pedals, strings, percussion and strange, non-instrument sounds as well. The confounding tone of the music, coupled with Broughton's heavy lyrical ruminations on death and other lofty topics, doesn't make for a casual listen--but it certainly all adds up to an interesting one.
