Set in New York City in the 1940s, the Tony award-winning musical Guys and Dolls follows the criminal activities of a group of professional gamblers. Originally directed by George Kaufman, Guys and Dolls debuted in 1950 and won the Tony for Best Musical the following year. By 1955, the story had been adapted to the iconic film version, starring Vivian Blaine, who also performed in the original musical along with Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons and Frank Sinatra.
