Paul Heaton is a pop singer/songwriter and musician from the UK who got his start with his band The Housemartins in the early 1980s. The band was moderately successful, one number one hit, an a cappella version of "Caravan of Love," out of its two studio albums. After the band split up he started The Beautiful South and released two number one studio albums on the UK Albums chart, 1996's Blue is the Colour and 1998's Quench. As a solo artist Heaton released his album 2001 Fat Chance under the monicker Biscuit Boy (a.k.a. Crackerman), and after the album failed to be a commercial success, he re-released the album as Paul Heaton with Mercury Records. Following the release of his third solo album Acid Country, in 2010, Heaton began work on 8th, collaborative performance with fellow Beautiful South members Jonny Lexus and Dave Rotheray that debuted in 2011.
