Formed in Madison, WI in 1994, Garbage quickly established itself as one of the preeminent alternative rock bands in the post-grunge era of the mid-1990s. The group's winning culmination of industrial, pop and hook-heavy stadium rock was led by Shirley Manson, a Scottish front-woman who brilliantly toed the line between seductive femininity and in-your-face aggression. Garbage, the band's 1995 debut yielded an impressive amount of hits including "Only Happy When It Rains" and "Stupid Girl." Over the years, Garbage began to incorporate more electronic influences into its alternative rock sound, working in trip-hop beats and slick production right up until it went on an indefinite hiatus in 2005. Garbage reformed in 2010 and released its first LP since 2005, titled Not Your Kind of People, in 2012.
