California based metal band Adema was formed in 2000 by Mark Chavez, Tim Fluckey, Dave DeRoo, Mike Ransom and Kris Kohls. Prior to forming Adema, the members had been a part of groups like Juice. The band worked on its demos for almost a year and secured a deal with the record label Arista. Its debut album Adema was released in 2001 and certified gold. This led to the band bagging a spot on the Ozzfest Tour. Adema's first EP Insomniac's Dream dropped in 2002 followed by the release of its second full-length album Unstable in 2003. The band was dropped by Arista following the low sales of its second album and remained without backing from a label for a while. Amidst these turbulent times, the band also experienced changes to its lineup with the exit of Ransom and Chavez. The remaining members of the band continued working on new music and roped-in Rewind Yesterday's lead vocalist Luke Caraccioli. The resulting Planets, the band's second full-length effort, was released in 2005. Adema played for troops stationed in the Persian Gulf, Iraq, Afghanistan, the UAE and toured with Brides of Destruction through 2005. Vocalist Bobby Reeves and guitarist Ed Faris were invited to join the band after Caraccioli's exit from the group a mere 10 months after joining it. 2007's Kill the Headlights became the band's last release before going on a hiatus in early 2008. It regrouped in 2011 and released the EP Topple the Giants, to negative reviews.
