Alain Souchon is a singer/songwriter and actor who was born in Casablanca and raised in France. Inspired by both English and American rock and roll, he took up guitar and struck up a songwriting partnership with fellow composer Laurent Voulzy. He released his 1974 debut J'ai dix ans and a series of other records with RCA before signing with Virgin Records and finally breaking through to mainstream audiences with the 1993 LP, C'est deja ca. The LP caught the attention of wider European audiences, particularly in Belgium, and kicked off a series of Souchon's most renowned albums. He continues to release record under his own name while maintaining his successful songwriting collaboration with Voulzy.
