With a sound that blends elements of zydeco, folk, reggae and bluegrass, the New York-based band Donna the Buffalo is a roots rock outfit that formed in 1989. Though the group has never really achieved much mainstream success, it has established somewhat of a cult following by playing an ardent number of shows in the New England and Mid-West regions. Donna and the Buffalo's reputation as premier live band is only bolstered by frequent jam sessions with other bands, helping to heighten the overall spontaneity and improvisational feel of the group's stage shows. Though its mostly known for its live engagements, the band has released several records since its formation including 1989's The White Tape, and 2005's Life's A Ride.
