Billy Hart Quartet is a modern jazz ensemble led by Washington, D.C.-born artist Billy Hart. After spending his early days playing with legends such as Otis Redding and collaborating with various outfits as a sideman and leader, he went on to teach jazz composition at institutions such as the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music. Hart teamed up with Mark Turner, Ethan Iverson and Ben Street in the mid-2000s, and the artists released the studio album Quartet, their first record under the name Billy Hart Quartet, in 2006.
