Sarah Silverman is an actress, writer, singer and comedian known for breaching social boundaries on topics such as sexism, religion and race. Born in Bedford, NH Silverman first earned praise for her work as a writer and performer on Saturday Night Live in 1994. After a landing gigs on sketch comedy shows such as HBO's Mr. Show, prominent television series like Star Trek: Voyager and small film roles in movies including 1998's There's Something About Mary, she earned her own sitcom The Sarah Silverman Program on Comedy Central in 2007. Though the show was cancelled after three seasons, Silverman went on to accept larger film roles in movies such as the 2011 drama, Take This Waltz, while still stirring controversy with her stand-up performances and satirical bigotry.
