Within the sector of the hard-hitting UK hip-hop genre known as 'grime,' there is perhaps no greater figurehead or influential contributor than Wiley. The London native first appeared on the scene with Treddin' on Thin Ice, his 2004 debut album. Combining UK garage, British slang, heavy amounts of street swagger and a creative vocal flow, the album found a devoted following and helped Wiley expose the international music community to grime music, alongside peers such as Dizzee Rascal and Kano. In 2008, he caused a stir amongst his admirers with his See Clear Now LP, which took a much more mainstream-friendly approach and included collaborations with high-profile artists and producers. Still, a small uproar from purists hasn't slowed down a career that has found Wiley continuing to proudly embrace his reputation as the "Godfather of Grime."
