While most Americans are familiar with the typical Bollywood dancing seen in Indian films, the majority know little about classical Indian dance styles. Hoping to expand North American knowledge of and interest in Indian dance, the Indo-American council presents this festival every year. A wide variety of traditional Indian dance styles and techniques from all over India including Kathak, Bharatanatyam and Mohiniattam are performed. There are workshops on the different styles of dance, panel discussions and film screenings as well.
