Local rap and hip-hop collective Hieroglyphics first organized Hiero Day in 2012 as a way to bring the community together for a day of music and indie culture. The annual celebration has quickly become a popular and highly-anticipated event, even being deemed an official holiday by the Oakland mayor's office. Featuring more than 30 acts, the festival is a great way to support Bay Area musicians and listen to what may be your new favorite artists! While the main draw is the live music from numerous local and national hip-hop acts, festival-goers can also enjoy activities such as a skateboard contest, a BMX bike demo and hip-hop chess.
