Dan Bern, born in Iowa in 1965, is a singer/songwriter who uses his Dylan-esque voice to tell folk tales. Bern's debut record, Dog Boy Van, was released in 1996, but his fame came with the film Walk Hard, starring John C. Reilly, which featured many songs co-written by Dan Bern - all of which were parodies of famous folk and rock tunes. His success from the soundtrack opened up more opportunities for Bern to make original music for motion pictures, which have now included, Get Him To The Greek and Jimmy Carter: Man From Plains.
