British Sea Power is an indie rock band based in Brighton, England that rose to prominence in the United Kingdom after the band's critically-acclaimed debut album, The Decline of British Sea Power, sold over 60,000 albums based almost solely on word-of-mouth marketing in 2003. Following the runaway success--by indie standards--of British Sea Power's debut album, the group went on to release its second album, Open Season, to a similar amount of acclaim and chart-topping success. In addition to BSP's tremendous success with its albums, the band is also extremely sought after for its live shows, which led Time Out to name the band the "Best Live Band of the Year" in 2004.
