Despite being the capital of Saskatchewan, Regina didn't have its own marathon until 2001. That first race drew 1300 runners (more than twice what the organizers expected) and hasn't looked back since. Now the Queen City Marathon regularly attracts over 6000 participants. The race begins and ends at the Conexus Arts Centre, with the course running along Wascana Lake and Wascana Creek, hitting all the major parks in the city before reaching 42.2 kilometers.
