The “Medical Bag” tour of 19th century physicians is a salute to those who lived in a time when there were so many medical challenges, and the causes of diseases were not known. We will also explore childhood diseases and death, and the cholera epidemic of 1850. The tour is conducted in Memory of Dr. Irma West, a brilliant, prolific and historically oriented Physician, who initiated and conducted this tour for years.
Notes:
These are walking tours. Please wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Tours are not typically canceled due to weather. Parking is available on the street or at the Riverside Target. We recommend avoiding parking in the Selland's lot across the street from the cemetery to reduce the risk of being towed. The Old City Cemetery Committee, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to raising funds for the restoration and repair of historic monuments and headstones at Sacramento's "Old City Cemetery." We also aim to educate the community about the fascinating lives of our eternal residents. Your ticket purchase may be tax deductible. Tax ID: 06-1674455.
