Keigo Oyamada is an experimental rock artist and producer from Japan who goes by the stage name Cornelius. As one-half of the duo Flipper's Guitar, he played a large role in the rise of the Japanese pop sub-genre Shibuya-kei in the 1990s before adopting the monicker Cornelius and embarking on a solo career in 1991. Cornelius's debut solo album The First Question Award, was released in 1994, followed shortly by his 1995 sophomore record, 69/96. With his experimental/art rock sound, he earned comparisons to Beck from international critics while also gaining acclaim for his original electronic beats, primarily his use of samples from nature and widespread pop culture. He released his fifth studio album, titled Sensuous, in 2006.
