Troy Andrews (aka Trombone Shorty) is a trombone and trumpet player from the New Orleans area who is known for his high-energy, quirky take on the jazz genre. From reworked versions of standards such as "When the Saints Go Marching In," to unlikely covers of rock and pop songs like AC/DC's "Back in Black" and Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get it On," he revels in bringing a bit of firecracker irreverence to what can often be a stuffy genre. Andrews attempts to make the audience feel like a part of the show by offering up call-and-response group vocals and encouraging everyone to clap and dance along. His feel-good style has gained prominence over recent years and in 2005, Andrews became a member of Lenny Kravitz's recording and performing horn section.
