Getting his start as the stand up bass player for the rockabilly revival outfit Stray Cats, Lee Rocker pioneered a unique sound that relied heavily upon his ability to slap the vertical bass strings and pluck them with vicious ferociousness. After personal issues between band members caused the group to implode, Rocker set out on a successful endeavor with the original Stray Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom and David Bowie guitarist Earl Slick. While this side project has since disbanded, Lee Rocker keeps performing with various swing, rockabilly and vintage rock n' roll groups that put a distinctively modern spin on vintage music.
