Cass McCombs is an American singer/songwriter based in California. Though generally regarded as an indie folk artist, McCombs' music avoids many of the potential trappings and limitations that the genre can sometimes put on artists. His style is full of a wide-range of influences, from the mopey 1980s pop of The Smiths and The Cure, to jangly Velvet Underground-style tunes and modern indie rock flourishes. McCombs' career has been one largely built around traveling. By the time he'd hit 30, he had already bounced around from the West to the East coast and then back again a few times. Along the way, he's managed to perform with some notable names in independent music, including Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire and The Decemberists.
