Held on or before March 17th, This is Savannah's largest annual event and the second biggest St. Patrick's Day Parade in the country. Over 700,000 people come to Savannah each year to dress in green, drink green beer and even eat green grits. The city's fountains are dyed green for the day. A three-hour long parade along Abercorn, Bay and Bull streets begins the day, and a huge celebration on River Street follows. The Savannah Convention and Visitors Bureau recommends visitors make hotel reservations well in advance. Rooms fill quickly the week of the parade. Free admission.
