Singer/songwriter Kathryn Williams is a Newcastle-based artist who self-released debut album Dog Leap Stairs, in 1999. With a budget of 80 euros, Williams released the album on her own label Caw Records before earning commercial success with her follow-up album Little Black Numbers, which was nominated for both a Grammy Award and a Mercury Prize. She collaborated with Anna Spencer of the punk band Delicate Vomit to form the Crayonettes, an electro hip-hop act with 1950s vocal stylings. Williams released her ninth studio album The Pond, in 2012.
