With music and lyrics by Maury Yeston and book by Peter Stone, Titanic debuted on Broadway in 1997. The tragedy of the 1912 ship which sank on its maiden voyage en route to New York gained an enormous amount of interest after the release of the James Cameron film, also in 1997. Both the film and the musical differ in storylines, but both explore the disparity between the different classes on board and the humanity that unites us all.
