Radio Birdman is one of the first punk bands to emerge out of Australia in the mid-1970s, when the subculture was just beginning to get its footing around the world. Renowned for having a profound influence on modern Australian indie rock, the group released only a single album Radio Appear, before disbanding in 1978, after recording but not releasing its second LP. Though the album, titled Living Eyes, eventually came out in 1981, Radio Birdman didn't reform until 1996, when it embarked on the Big Day Out tour. The band continues to be an example of an enduring rock band in the face of temporary trends and an ever-shifting music scene.
